Topical Finasteride, progesterone and shedding

Post by Hairblues » Wed Aug 15, 2018 9:27 pm

(I don’t know what to name it)

Okay so I’m on topical finasteride for about a year.
On minoxidil and topical spiro for about 2 years

I have definitely held my ground and had some decent regrowth.

A few months ago I started to shed short healthy looking hairs again (like 1-3 inches tapper ends)
*could be my ferritin but I’m not losing a lot of long*

I couldn’t tell if I was losing ground or not because I swear hair loss makes me bi polar about, well, hair loss (I’m losing/I’m gaining I’m losing/im gaining)

Anyway I think the shed has slowed down now and I ‘think’ I’m getting some more or little better regrwoth in spots I didn’t have before...this is SOOOO hard to know for sure because it’s so subtle, like with magnifying mirror. The hairs that were looking a little like arm hair in caliber and length suddenly look ‘thicker’ strand...at the same time however I swear my sides feel a little thinner (hoping this is maybe temporary from recent shed)

Anyway I know not many people do topical finasteride and I know some people feel it’s snake oil..( I honestly know it’s not but maybe not necessary if you can take pill etc)
i personally have no side effects on any topical. (I did in oral spiro right away)

I’m also wondering about other vehicles which might be better or stronger.
I have it with an alcohol vehicle in a spray bottle.( I spray it super close to scalp as not to waste it.)
I was reading about gel vehicles and foams(?)

Any thoughts or new information?

The only Finasteride I've ever taken, since 2013, has been Topical Finasteride,
combined with Minoxidil, and Progesterone.

And I can say this, with 100% confidence. If you get liquid Progesterone, you will
probably never shed, or shed around twenty hairs a month (that number is right).

Topical Estrogen is even better, but it gave me physical changes I didn't want, so
I quit that.

Get it in a single topical solution. It will regrow your hair back.

I also recommended the same thing to the @Admin , but he
probably doesn't want to use Progesterone.

Both of them. I could post pictures on here tonight if you want.

Right now I am getting ready for work.

I was around a Norwood five in 2013. Now I am close to
a Norwood three.

Progesterone kept things in.

Yeah I’m curious

I saw my Gyno and tried to talk about female hormones he would t even discuss it because my period is still normal...BUT a friend of mine told me Peri menopause can start 10 years prior to period stopping so my hormones may be fluctuating up/down even though I’m still regular and see no changes.
Which may have no effect except I have hair issues so I’m hyper mindful of this.

I definitely am going show everyone. Unfortunately I lost my cell phone, and they are in there.

That said, I definitely have to show these.

Also, I have them in the computer room upstairs. So, I just have to get a monitor
connected from another one, and transfer them.

I'm going to aim for this weekend.

How does topical progesterone and or estrogen not go systemic for you?

They do go systemic. That's why I'm currently just taking Progesterone.

The picture above is shows the combination of Progesterone
and Finasteride. I started the topical Progesterone in 2016.

Topical Finasteride has been used since 2013.

Note that the hairstyle covers the recession. I still am a
male Norwood three.

So did you just use progesterone, and no estro?

Yes. I only used Estrogen for a short period of time. It
was used from March - May of 2018.

I used too much (.1%), which caused physical changes.

If I use it again, it will be a much smaller amount than
before.

How long before your body came back to normal - or do you still have some gyno?
